Week 5: Monday, August 5 to Friday, August 9
Fashion Lab @ Camp Aldrich with Jahmane
Upcycle, deconstruct, and reconstruct garments and accessories sourced from local thrift stores to design wearable art inspired by the Museum’s current exhibitions with Aldrich teaching artist Jahmane. Designers will develop their pieces from sketches to the runaway, ending their week with a fashion show produced and directed by the designers themselves.
Jahmane’s career as an artist began in the form of graffiti, or “street art” and has evolved into a wide spectrum of media, including works on canvas, photography, fashion design, mural painting, screen printing, and graphic design. Currently, Jahmane produces his fine art and Kultjah clothing label at his studio in the Firing Circuits Artists Building in Norwalk, CT and is a teaching artist, curator, and active member of several artists’ collectives in the Tri-State area.
